As Christmas is movement along this week, the families are basking in the joy of gifts, feasting on their favourite foods and take advantage of their closest friends.
Many people take outside to enjoy the wonders of the winter, while others prefer to be kissed in front of a fireplace with a good book or a film. Others still use this vacation time to explore new things or new thoughts.
Therefore in this spirit, I would like to suggest that you spend time looking forward in the future. After all, if you are an employee or an employer, more that probably there is economic, demographic, social, financial trends and policies specific that will have an impact on your life or your business in 2011.
Following trends in human resources are the ones I'm personally suite and which I believe will also make an impact on the coming year.
Investment in the training of new employees - each time that you read what the growth of the work, you will come across comments that suggest that immigration and the participation of indigenous peoples and members of visible minorities will continue to be the important strategy to meet current human resource needs. At the same time, however, I have continually to meet people who are educated but underemployed. Perhaps because their professional credentials from other countries are not accepted or employers simply assumptions that prevent a person giving a chance to prove themselves. Thus, for 2011 and beyond, I imagine that companies have a role much more important in the creation of their own internal training programs and/or "learning" to better integrate immigrants, Aboriginal and visible minorities in their workforces.
The growth in flexibility of employment strategies , organizations are faced with not only the potential of the baby boomers leave the work place, they also are meeting with the crowd of young workers who simply want more flexibility to carry out a more balanced lifestyle. As a result, organizations will look to a variety of strategies to integrate the flexibility in the implementation work week. Some of the strategies that are gaining popularity are flexible, compressed work, telework, telecommute, job sharing and part-time work.
The dominance of technology - Information technology has become an important part of personal and organizational life. However, while we are entering in 2011 and beyond, this is my prediction that we will see increased use of technology in human resources. Web sites and social networking to attract new employees; people will receive standardised training by learning, room specially designed simulations and games of the Internet and use Skype and webinars more frequently. Thus, the HR professional will be also able to play a more strategic role in management by providing critical information, statistics and planning measures.
Limitation of the costs of employee benefits - at the time, the organizations do step believe that they had no role in the health of their employees. However, it has been proven repeatedly and repeatedly employees in health that have an impact on the bottom line. Thus, organizations will be more directly involved in helping employees to manage their health through welfare programmes while at the same time seek to contain health and corporate benefit costs.
Rethink compensation - for many organizations in 2011 and beyond will be rethinking their strategies for compensation. Several organizations will move to the variable compensation based on cost-effectiveness while at the same time to make an effort to maintain smaller base salaries. Organizations more will implement an assessment-employment process to ensure that female employees are paid on an equal footing. Communication with employees on compensation strategies and where they fit will more become increasingly important.
Leadership - coachingWith the trend of "do more with less" continues and a lack of time to attend external training, I see an appeal increased coaching and mi-gestionnaires Executive of supervisors and executives to build up the skills and professional confidence. Executive coaching industry will also begin to consolidate, creating less confusion about the various certifications that are available today.
Focus on the estate - it is well known that very few organizations have actually planned for the estate of CEO or management. However, this issue is now clearly at the forefront of everyone's mind and this will lead to the development and implementation of internal career training programs for all levels of staff. The programs will focus on the assessment of the skills, the personal motivation and life cycles of career to help employees to see the opportunity with their employer and give them a roadmap for their career. Particular attention will lead also to older workers to help them make the right decisions to make a transition from the workforce.
Increased the use of prior to the employment - testing- employers are concerned always hire the right person at the right time and doing a good job. However, many hiring decisions is made more on subjective and intuitive thinking. Accordingly, many organizations will continue to move towards the use of screening assessments for employment online. These assessments can accurately determine if someone is subject to theft, alcoholism or has a poor work ethic. Assessments more sophisticated for senior management provide the opportunity to learn more about the style of communication and leadership.
Professionals of the growth of HR in organizations - with the rules and regulations for the hiring and management of employees becoming increasingly more complicated, there is a growing need for professionals in human resources in organizations. Traditionally, the general rule for the hiring of a HR professional is a ratio of one for every 100 employees. Today, we are seeing companies as small as 50 employees who are in need of a qualified HR professional. Still others will use a human resources on call service. This HR trend will increase.
Monitoring of emerging trends will allow you to be a futuristic "Chair". Being "in the know" can be interesting, but at the very least, can you help guide your career to ensure that you can personally offer skills at the right time and stay current. The companies and organizations, on the other hand, can use trend to look at adapting their strategies to ensure that they are in line with emerging trends. After all, remain in the game is what will lead to future success.
