Last law and monitoring - what is the Real Deal on that?

It is well known that the United States, you can stop a person without a probable cause, and you are not authorized to retain. It is the rules that we must protect the freedom and freedom in our great nation. Of course, these last ten years, and in the era of international terrorism, some people try to rethink some of these things to protect our citizens. That is why we have the Department of Homeland Security or DHS.

There was an article interesting in Homeland Security News online on June 9, 2011 in the category of the technology of the application of the Act of law recently published, the title of the article was "A Machine that predicts Crime", and section said.

The Nature of knowledge

What if you could see far into the future and know exactly how things would happen and when they would happen? Could you handle everything you would see and would you be tempted to alter things if you had the chance?

In the following section I will be exploring the nature of how we know or sense when something is going to happen ahead of time. In terms of psychic phenomena this is known as Precognition clear or cognizance; the ability to see or know things before they happen. As you will come to understand, not everything is cut and dry, or clear and simple when it comes to psychic gifts.

It was a Clear Case of, Knowing?

A few years ago around mid 2000 I started receiving little psychic nudges that something wasn't quite right. I couldn't put my finger on it but the thoughts kept persisting. Having been a psychic for over 20 years at the time I knew that a message was trying to come through but a lot of like intuitive feelings, what I thought and what I rationalized were two different things that could never quite agree.

Along about this period I asked God if he/she could be a little clearer with the message. Kind of like, "Hey, can you be a little more specific with what you're trying to convey?" "I m not quite getting the full concept here." Shortly after this my attention started to be drawn to the numbers 911. Every ambulance, police car, poster, and billboard I saw; It was a beacon of 911 over and over again.

After this went on for a while I asked again, "Okay, I get that there's something I'm suppose to record about the numbers 911;" Perhaps it's an emergency of some sort. I work in the medical field and see emergencies every day. "What is it that I m supposed to be getting about his whole thing that I m missing?"

Along about mid July 2011 I was transferred to work at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. The route I took from my apartment to the work center was directly in line with the flight path of the Logan airport and every morning I had the pleasure of sitting in snail paced traffic watching the plains fly overhead.

One morning while watching a particular plain I suddenly had an image of a hijacking flash through my mind. The whole scene seemed a little weird and I quickly dismissed it as an over active imagination, and then rationalized that something like that could never happen in American today. After all, we were well prepared for anything like that due to our prior experiences with rues.

When I arrived at work everything was normal and nothing the whole day was uneventful. I didn't give the hijacking vision another thought. About a week later traffic was like a parking lot on the highway again and I was watching the plains fly overhead. This time I received another flash of a hijacking taking place, only this time it seemed like more than one plain was involved and I was getting more information to explain what was happening.

At this point I started carrying it an inner conversation with my spirit guides. "Why is this happening was my first question?" The answer, "America needs to learn a lesson." "Shouldn't can't someone warn them about this?" I replied. Another answer came, "No, they will not be warned, it's too late."

When I finally arrived at work about 20 minutes later I was confronted with a scene of several people gathered around a TV set. When I looked at the screen I saw a plain crashing into a building and immediately dismissed it as just another movie. At that time that one of the guards informed me that a jet had just collided with the World Trade Center in New York City.

We all know what happened that day and how, and I'm sure most people reading this knew where I was headed. My reason for sharing this is to illustrate that the nature of knowing isn't always perfect and more often than not can be downright confusing.

Rational Filters of Precognition

Not a week goes by that I don't hear or see the sentence, "You're psychic, you should have known." No, we're human beings of flesh and blood, just like you. If you think that being a psychic gives us a sudden lift of supernatural powers, think again. We have the same limitations of being human that you have, which is a mind that rationalizes what is real and not. The only difference is that psychics haven't completely rationalized their disbelief and are possibly more sensitive to their gifts than most.

Everyone has some level of psychic awareness or ability just by virtue of possessing a spirit. We are all in some form or another connected to the universe by an intangible web of spiritual energy. To deny its existence doesn't negate the fact that it's there it merely means you may be choosing to be unaware. Being psychic isn't a privilege of a select few; rather it has been carefully suppressed in society through various religions so a select few can reap its benefits.

It's really a sad thing to hear people rationalize over and over again, "I think I may be psychic but..." or "I'm not a psychic but..." In either case the answer is always the same, "Yes you are and you will experience the paranormal from time to time because you are a psychic spiritual being."

* Please note that the fact that we are all psychic doesn't dismiss that there are those of us who have chosen to specialize and hone our abilities. In addition, this isn't saying you should never ever seek out a "psychic" for advice. Just as not everyone is destined to be a lawyer or a doctor per their own desires, not everyone is destined to specialize as mediums or spiritual healers.

Is Knowing the Future Really Important?

The answer to that question. Sometimes yes, but for the most part not really. If there is any one thing about the "fortune teller" image that really sets a bad tone it would be the notion that everything is about the future. The truth of the matter is that going to a psychic should be more about where you're at and the decisions you're making than what the Mega Million Lotto numbers will be.

Sure, the future may play into the overall reading, but the future is more the result of the decisions you're making today, not tomorrow. For instance, you go to a psychic in order to find out if you'll meet your long lost soul mate soon. She or he says, "Sure you'll meet your mate within the next three months." soul Three months pass and no soul mate, not even a bite. What's up with that?

More than likely you may have things in the present that can't aren't being dealt with that should be before the meeting can take place. Another possibility is that you're holding onto things from the past that may be interfering with moving forward to the future. The reasons can go on and on but the fact remains that before you can get to point B you have to take care of point A (where you're at) first. But, not everyone likes to hear what they have to work on and want a ready made shortcut.

If you really want to see a good psychic, look for one that deals with the whole package. not just one who'll tell you what they think you want to hear. Sure there are those out there who can truly tell you what will happen but they are few and far between. They will also be the ones who will genuinely bring everything back to the present and take care of the whole person that you are.

After a beautiful bank holiday weekend filled with riding, blackberry picking, long walks, successfully putting off a number of house hold and stable chores and far too much food I curled up on the couch with my other half on Monday night and watched The Time Traveller's Wife (such a great film we've seen it before but still it gets her reaching for the tissues every time!!)

Anyway got me thinking about my favourite horsy films, so here's a list of my top ten:

1. HIDALGO (2004)

Based on a true story of the greatest long distance horse race ever run. The Ocean Of Fire is a 3,000-mile survival race across the Arabian Desert and was competition was restricted to the finest Arabian horses ever bred from the purest and noblest lines. In 1890 a wealthy Sheik invited an American, Frank T. Hopkins (played by Vigo Mortensen - yummm!), and his horse to enter the race for the first time. Hopkins is a Pony Express courier and together with his mustang, Hidalgo enters the race. The story follows their adventures as the underdogs; the race becomes not only a matter of pride and honour but a race for their survival!

Interesting fact

Vigo Mortensen bought the horse who played the title character after the film was completed (can this man get anymore perfect!!)

In the final horse scene, 550 different horses were used. The horses all came from different owners, so to tell them apart, their hooves were branded.

2. THE HORSE WHISPERER (1998)

Directed by and starring Robert Redford this film is a fantastic film but a definite tearjerker! A teenage girl, Grace, and her best friend, Judith, take their horses out for a mornings ride when the girls are involved in a terrible accident. A truck hits them; Judith and her horse are killed, while Grace and her horse Pilgrim are seriously injured, both physically and mentally. In an attempt to bring Pilgrim, back from his now savage condition and help Grace deal with what has happened, Grace's mother Annie takes them to Montana in search of Tom Brooker (Redford). Tom is a "horse whisperer" with the ability to communicate with horses and helps to heal the souls of both Grace and Pilgrim.

Interesting fact

"Horse Whispering" is something of a false term. The phrase came about as originally Native American's would sometimes tame a horse by jumping on its back and biting its ear to make it stop bucking (the pain would be worse if the rider's teeth were jerked by the horse's head, so the horse would soon learn to calm and stop bucking. Some observers misunderstood what was happening and assumed the rider was whispering in the horses' ear to calm it down.

3. SEA BISCUIT (2003) (The original film THE STORY OF SEABISCUIT was 1949)

The true story of Seabiscuit, a great racehorse in the US during the great depression. Not only does Seabiscuit inspire a nation giving them hope during the bleakest days of the depression but he also breathes new life into the man who buys him, the man who trains him and the man who rides him.

Interesting fact

Over 40 horses are featured in the film, with 10 sharing the title role of Seabiscuit. The horses running distances never exceeded three furlongs, or three eights of a mil, per take.

4. SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON (2002)

This animated film follows Spirit a young coly who becomes leader of his herd until he is captured by humans then sold to the US army where a colonel vows to tame him. He manages to escape with the help of a native American boy and then finds his true love with one of his tribe's mares.

Interesting facts

Real horses were recorded for all the audio. At no time were any humans used for any of the horse characters!

Spirit was modelled on a 3-year-old Kiger stalling named Donner - what a handsome horse he must have been!!

5. DREAMER: INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY (2005)

A horse trainer, Ben Crane (Kurt Russell), believes that a severely injured racehorse deserves another chance. He accepts the racehorse as a severance package when he looses his job. The horse once a great racer has suffered a broken leg and is considered a lost cause. Out of work and with few options left Ben is encouraged by his daughter Crane to nurse the mare back to health and see if she has a change at the Breeder's Cup. As the mare injuries heal, the father and daughter begin to bond and to heal their own relationship.

Interesting facts

Kurt Russell bought Dakota Fanning a real Palamino horse, which she name Goldie - lucky lucky girl!!!

The film was loosely inspired by the story of the mare Mariah's Storm. A filly who was being pointed towards the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies in 1993 but then broke her cannon bone. She recovered and later won some graded races. She started in the 1995 Breeder's Cup Distaff and finished ninth. She was owned by Thunderhead Farms and trained by Don Von Hemel.

6. BLACK BEAUTY (1994)

There have been many different versions of Anna Sewell's classic book, Black Beauty. The story follows Black Beauty, a beautiful black stallion as he recalls his life from his birth, through her carefree life as a colt, and the many hardships he has suffered. During Beauty's life, he passes through the hands of both the kind and the cruel but ultimately find happiness when he is reunited with the boy he loved.

Interesting fact

Black Beauty was played by a Quarter Horse stallion named Docs Keppin Tim, who also played the role of another famous fictional black horse, The Black in 'Adventures of the Black Stallion' - what a talented horse!!

Black Beauty was also played by a few other horses throughout the movie including a Saddlebred mare and a Friesian as well.

7. NATIONAL VELVET (1944)

Velvet Brown (Liz Taylor) lives the dream we all had as children - win a horse in a lottery and turn him into a campion - was it just me then!? Young Velvet disguises herself as a boy and wins the Grand National steeplechase on her beloved pie. It is a classic amongst horse films, a great feel good Sunday film!

After filming Liz Taylor got to keep the horse...of course!

8. THE BLACK STALLION (1979)

While travelling with his father, Alec becomes fascinated by an Arabian stallion that is stabled on the ship he is sailing on. When the ship tragically sinks both he and the horse survive only to be stranded on a deserted island. Alec bonds with the horse and when finally rescued they both return to his home where they soon meet Henry Dailey, a once successful trainer. Together they begin training The Black to race against the fastest horses in the world.

Interesting fact

There is a scene after The Black has jumped overboard and Alec is in the water yelling for help and The Black is swimming towards him. Suddenly the horse begins to tip over, his head plunges underwater and he starts to thrash in the water his hooves pawing the air. This wasn't faked but in fact was a serious accident caused by the guide wires that were being used to control the horse. Too much force was applied on the turn and the horse went under, a serious cause for alarm on the set. Luckily the horse righted himself and was fine!

9. RACING STRIPES (2005)

In the middle of a thunderstorm a travelling circus accidentally leaves behind some very precious cargo - a baby zebra, Stripes! The foal is rescued by a horse farmer, a retired thoroughbred trainer, who takes him home to his young daughter. The farm borders the Turfway Racetrack, where skilled thoroughbreds compete for horse racing's top honour, the Kentucky Crown. From the first moment Stripes lay eyes on the track, he's hooked and thinks it's his calling. The film follows Stripes train to achieve his dream of being a racehorse!

Interesting fact

The Shetland pony, Tucker, played by Dustin Hoffman turned grey for winter during the filming so the animal trainers had to paint him brown!

10. FLICKA

This is a great coming of age story. 16yr old Katy wants to take over the family's mountainside horse ranch but her father insists she finish boarding school. Katy finds a mustang in the hills near her ranch and is determined to tame a mustang to prove to her father she is strong enough to run the ranch. Katy names the mustang Flicka and begins training and riding her. The film follows their adventures and see Katy fall in love with Flicka and learn the hard way about responsibility.

Interesting fact

Filming had to be stopped in April 2005, when a thoroughbred, halter-broke horse used in the film sadly died in a freak accident on set. After extensive independent investigates by both LA Animal Services and American Human no negligence was found on the part of the production and death was determined to be an accident.

WARHORSE (2011)

Stephen Spielberg is set to film this version of the play of the same name, which is a stage adaptation of the book War Horse a children's novel by Michael Morpurgo. The story follows a young man Albert and his horse Joey and how their bond is broken when Joey is sold to the cavalry and sent to the trenches of World War 1. Unable to bear the thought of his friend facing the battlefields alone, he lies about his age and enlists.

This was one of the most moving and beautiful plays I've ever seen and with Stephen Spielberg promising to keep the horses as the driving force of the story and the stars of the film I can't wait for this one! It's very early days with filming not even started so a long wait yet!

THE SECRETARIAT (2010)

Another real treat of a film for horse lovers! This is based on a true story of Penny Chenery. The film follows housewife and mother Penny agree to take over her ailing father's Virginia based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horseracing knowledge. With help from veteran trainer, Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich), Penny trains the horse Secretariat and guides the horse to become the first horse in twenty-five years to win the US Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.

Story of the real Von Trapp family 9 - the legacy of the melody of happiness

When the Trapp family singers gave their farewell in 1956 performance, most of them assumed that they would have to retire from the bustle of the fans, audiences and journalists to live a family life normal and simply assumed that the public would be to forget their. But this should not be! For shortly after the publication of books of Maria, a German film company had approached in the hope to buy the film rights to this story. As Maria recalled later, "our family has special talent never obtain a solicitor at the right time!" The contract signed with this establishment was far from equitable and caused years of regret when the family was left without any royalties in all!

At the time where a Broadway Director interest was sparked in history, Mary Martin was kind enough to insist for only a small percentage of the revenue of play given to Maria von Trapp, but no there is no such premium for the real Trapp family of the melody of the film. However, their history, liked by people everywhere in the world and brought streams of visitors in their lodge in Stowe, Vermont.

In the years following the release of the film in 1965, the musical performed thousands of times in classrooms around the world, and the film became a success as distant countries such as China, the Finland, Egypt, Japan and Israel!

Perhaps you are you requested after seeing the film, "I wonder where the von Trapp family since"? This question led me looking for the history of the family, and I found that the "children" have lived for life, although their names are actually Rupert (Friedrich), Agathe (Liesl), Maria (Louisa), Werner (Kurt), Hedwig (Brigitta), Johanna (Marta) and Martina (Gretl). Outside, he has three children and Maria gave birth in the 1920s and 30s, who are still alive as of this writing in 2011.

At the time where the singers of the family dissolved Trapp, Rupert, who has recently obtained a medical degree, married a young American woman and had seven children. Agathe founded a nursery school in Maryland, while Maria (the second oldest Trapp daughter) gave his life in service as a missionary for many years and finally adopted one of the children she had supported. Werner was reunited with Erika Klambauer after the war which had been friend dear sister Martina, and after their marriage, they have six wonderful children. Hedwig was used at the family hotel Trapp, helped with the missions in Hawaii and taught children in Austria. Johanna had left the family in 1948 to marry a friend of his brothers, Ernst Winter, with whom she gave birth to seven children near Vienna. Only a year later, the youngest of the first seven children also left the nest to get happily to a Canadian man that she met the family music camp. Tragically, she died in layers having lived more than thirty years, and the family filed a grievance as another Member has continued ahead of them. Rosmarie von Trapp served in missions abroad before retiring from Stowe, where she is an active member of the local Catholic community, while Eleonore, a jovial and perennial Lady, married her American husband in 1954 and had seven daughters! The youngest child Trapp, Johannes, served as President of the lodge of the Trapp family since 1969 and was married to one of the workers Lodge in the same year. He and his wife, Lynn, have two children, who live near them.

Over the years, the von Trapp family has received several awards and distinctions, including a letter from President Lyndon b. Johnson and the decoration or of honour of the State of Salzburg, 70 per cent of whose tourists attribute their only visit to the melody of happiness. Maria herself appears on many television shows and has received much fan mail, perhaps the most touching of which came from Mary Martin, homologous Broadway of Maria who wrote, "Dear Maria, was one of the great pleasures of my life knowing you, plays you and loving you.".

Towards the end of the life of Maria, she heard say, "If God can do a lot for the von Trapp family, it can certainly do the same for you. When she died in March 1987, she has left behind a joyous heritage of faith and family who brought hope to millions of people around the world.

Over the river and through the Woods: maintenance of the long Distance grandparenting

My family recently celebrated a special Mothers' Day: my daughter became a new mother -- and I became a new grandmother, and my mom became a great-grandmother! My little granddaughter was named after my grandmother and her father's grandmother. Grandparents are important!

By recent census estimates, there are 70 million grandparents in the United States. First-time grandparents, like first-time parents, may wonder how to succeed in their new roles. Fortunately, there are almost as many ways of being a good grandparent as there are grandparents.

For a variety of reasons, some grandparents and grandchildren have no contact at all, for example, because of bitter divorces with grandparents being denied visitation. But the majority of grandparents are involved to different degrees.

In a 2008 government census, 6.6 million children were found to live with a grandparent, with or without the parents in residence. Other grandparents live within a few miles of their grandchildren. They may see their grandchildren daily: 30% of children whose mothers work outside the home are cared for on a regular basis by a grandparent during their mothers' working hours. Other grandparents see their grandchildren once a week or so. These grandparents intimately watch their grandchildren grow up, but they are not primarily responsible for the childrearing.

Grandparents who live far away from their grandchildren face a particularly difficult challenge. How can grandparents form a close bond with their grandchildren when they are together so seldom?

Families today are often fragmented. In generations before the Baby Boomers, men and women married someone from their hometown and moved a few miles away. Today, that is no longer the case. Through no fault of their own, seniors and their adult children may live thousands of miles apart. Cheap airfare enables people to relocate and also enables visits, so people today don't put as much value in staying put as they used to.

Education has become prolonged and may take young adults far from home, where they meet and marry people with backgrounds very different from their own. Career opportunities may take couples to the other side of the country (or the other side of the world), and this may include the grandchildren.

Grandparents may have careers of their own that keep them from following when their loved ones move away, or perhaps they cannot afford to move. In addition, moving closer to the grandchildren may not be practical because of health considerations: seniors may feel the need to remain near their trusted doctors who have known them for many years and near hospitals where they have come to feel secure.

So, too, climate challenges may keep the extended family apart. Some people cannot bear cold temperatures and snow, others hate heat, and still others have no tolerance for high humidity. Extreme weather conditions can be difficult at any age but are especially problematic in the later years. Some locations may be unsuitable because there are persistent allergens to contend with, from plant pollens to industrial pollution. And some seniors dislike the hustle and bustle of city living, while others cannot imagine living anywhere else.

And as if all these conditions and requirements were not difficult enough, imagine what happens when grandparents do move closer to their grandchildren, only to watch their adult child pick up and leave shortly thereafter. I once asked a retired pharmacist why he had moved to California from New York; he told me that he had relocated to be near his daughter and her husband, and his two grandchildren - but within a year they had moved back East to accept job appointments at a new college. Should he follow them again? Would they stay in Ithaca? He was puzzled and didn't know what to do. Now imagine having several adult children with several grandchildren among them, and the families are spread out across the country in different cities. Which set of grandchildren would you follow? How often would you see the others?

The good news is that the lifespan is longer now, giving seniors the longevity to watch their grandchildren (and maybe even their great-grandchildren) grow up. The bad news is that these grandchildren often live far away. So how can long distance grandparents create loving, lifelong bonds with their grandchildren? Psychological research indicates that there is more to attachment than the amount of time parents and children spend together, and the same principles apply to grandparent/grandchild bonds. Lifelong attachments between grandparents and grandchildren can form even with relatively short periods of physical contact.

Video chat is an amazing tool for long distance grandparents. Grandparents can watch the children grow up, week by week, and in turn, when they meet face to face, the grandparents will not be strangers to the children. With video chat, they can do things together visually: the grandparents might buy two copies of a book at the child's reading level, and send one copy to the grandchild and keep one copy for themselves; Then when they talk on the phone or use video chat, they can read the book together. They can share artwork or "attend" a party virtually. (And yet, is there any real substitution for a big hug and a kiss?

Children's memories of their time with their grandparents may stay with them throughout their lifetime -- long after their grandparents are gone. In fact, this is true even with no time together at all! I have always felt close to my paternal grandmother, even though she died when my father was a young child: I am named after her, I have photos of her, my father has shared his memories of her, and I use her Sabbath candlesticks, that she brought to the United States from Poland, every Friday night. Remembrances may even be passed down to great-grandchildren, as I hope will be the case for my new granddaughter: generation to generation, a glimmer of immortality.

The long distance grandparenting task, then, is to learn how to form these salient memories. I can offer just a few suggestions here.

A preponderance of research on grandparenting confirms that attachments are best formed by being with one grandchild at a time. Each child is different and each wants to feel special in his or her own way. Taking a trip with each grandchild -- whether it be camping for a week or a quick trip to the grocery store -- is one way of forming one-to-one bonds.

Young children love repetition. That's how they learn. They want to watch Little Mermaid 20 times, and read the same book over and over. It's a rare parent who doesn't get bored after weeks of playing the same game. Grandparents have an advantage here. The movies, songs, books, and games that the child repeats endlessly at home are new and fresh to long distance grandparents. And aging gives us the gift of greater patience, a slower pace, and appreciation of little things; the grandchild has the perfect audience in the grandparents.

In turn, grandparents can initiate their own routines and traditions with the grandchild; for example, by picking an old song from when they were growing up that the child might enjoy. This can become "your song." Like teens in love who think of each other when "their song" is playing, you can create a loving bond with a grandchild by having a song between the two of you. One of my own memories of my grandmother, when I was a very young child, is dancing with her around her apartment, holding her hands, while she sang, "I Don't Want Her, You Can Have Her, She's Too Fat For Me." So okay, I was a little chubby then. But I'm sure she chose that song because she tried it and it made me laugh. It became our song.

And what child doesn't like to eat? Preparing, and even mailing, a particular type of food, repetitiously, can create lifelong memories. For me, it was Grandma's potato knishes and Aunt Rose's butter cookies. Maybe that's how I got chubby in the first place, but the extra pounds came off long ago and the memories remain priceless.

Grandparents can be predictable, to their advantage. Oft repeated stories that are annoying to grown children will be appreciated by young grandchildren; if a grandparent "told them that already," so much the better. So tell the same jokes, share the same stories -- and call on the telephone or video chat at a routine day and time. Let them anticipate. Expectation is part of the fun.

One of the tasks of successful aging is doing a "life's review." This involves dwelling on one's past, making sense of it, making peace with it. When decisions made long ago can be brought into the light, examined, and accepted, one's life can be integrated - past, present, and future, including the acknowledgement of mortality. Healing can take place and drive away despair, drive away each "woulda," coulda," and "shoulda." Telling stories of past history to grandchildren gives them a greater sense of their generational place in the family, and it may teach them something about making decisions, making mistakes, and moving on. Meanwhile, the grandparents are doing the psychological work that will benefit them, too.

Grandparents can tell stories to the grandchildren of what they were like when they were babies. And it's fun for grandchildren of all ages to hear stories about when their parents were young (without undermining the parents' authority with critical anecdotes); the best stories are humorous incidents, or sharing some touching aspect of a parent's character. Children are more tolerant of their parents' idiosyncrasies when they can see their parents as whole people, not just as The Authority and Boss.

When taking a trip together, like going to the beach, grandparents should be sure to set the rules in advance (e.g., who can go into the water, and when). It's often a good idea to stay close to home if the grandchildren are young; if it rains, if they get sick, or if there are discipline problems, home they go.

And although many grandparents are afraid to set limits in their home, especially if the rules are slightly different from the children's home rules, it will not alienate the children to do so and will avoid arguments. Stating limits clearly, offering some reasons, and staying consistent are all important, with logical consequences (e.g., "If you continue to complain about sitting in the back seat of the car, I will go without you.").

If the grandparents plant a bush or a tree at their home when each child is born, they can take photos of it as it grows from year to year and send the photos to the children. Better still is taking pictures of them in front of the tree each time they visit, and watching the tree and the child grow together.

When traveling, grandparents can send attractive postcards or e-cards. They can send ordinary pictures of themselves in their hometown, too, even if the pictures just show daily routines, like playing with a pet. Pictures of the grandparents with their grandchildren, taken during their last visit together, are especially helpful for young grandchildren. Sending video is another good idea.

Slightly older grandchildren can keep in touch through texting or instant messaging, and digital photos. If grandparents don't know how to use a new technology, let them teach you! Preteens and teenagers enjoy feeling like they have valuable expertise. Do they have other, special interests or talents, like playing baseball or collecting fossils? They can teach their grandparents about these interests of theirs, too. Grandparents can arrange to talk to preteens and teenagers, maybe by cell phone, at times when the teens know the grandparents are not calling to talk to their parents, that the phone call is just for them. The can talk about their problems at school or their favorite music or TV shows; then the grandparents can find out more by watching the TV show or buying the CD and really listening to it. No, the grandparents don't have to like the show or the music; but perhaps they can talk about it intelligently with the teens and indicate their interest and open-mindedness. It may not be easy to understand this upcoming generation, but grandparents may be able to avoid some generation gap issues if they keep up with technology and popular culture.

When grandchildren visit, grandparents can do basic science projects together, or let the children sleep outside in tent, put on a puppet show, or invent secret codes. Do the grandparents have any hobbies they can share? Perhaps they enjoy photography and can teach some basics to the grandchildren, or cooking together, or yoga.

Ideally, a grandparent is a mentor who can increase a grandchild's aspirations, imagination, decision making, and self-esteem. The children's parents can have the uncomfortable tasks, like critiquing their appearance or making sure their homework gets done. Grandparents can offer unconditional love -- and grandparents are perhaps the only people in life who ever do so.

The benefits of being an involved grandparent actually enrich the world beyond family boundaries. Research shows that adults who were close to their grandparents as children have greater compassion for aging, in themselves and in others, than adults who as children were deprived of these bonds. I still miss my grandparents, who died many years ago. My parents have been loving grandparents to my daughter. I can only hope to be that kind of grandparent now that it is my turn.

Upcoming Tablet computers launched at 2011 CES

2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas has introduced a new wave of innovative, thin screen touch Tablet PCs and devices in electronic reading market.

Some of these tablets will allow you to surf the Web, watch movies and play casual games without the need to rely on a bulky laptop and its traditional keyboard. Other gadgets focus on features such as reading for long periods of time without killing the batteries and without eye strain, e.g. the Kindle 3 G wireless device playback.

While the Apple iPad tablet computer is still the market leader in the emerging market for tablets, this probably won't be for long, because of its price. Analysts believe the new Tablet from Apple to be launched around March / April may cost $ 700 to $ 1,000 and will probably be a fully functional computer, rather than a more passive device for reading books and watching movies. That could help to justify the higher price tag.

In contrast, the design of Tablet unveiled by Freescale in 2011 these in Las Vegas could sell for as little as $200.

The launch of the Apple iPad 2, Steven a. Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, showed off the coast at 2011 CES a new Tablet from Hewlett-Packard PC running Windows 7 with a color touch screen displaying books and videos.

Tablets more are expected to be launched this year. In a new 5-year forecast has just come out, Forrester Research said he expected tablet PC to grow more rapidly than MP3 players in the United States and expected that the 82 million Americans would be owner of the computer tablet by 2015.

The future of electronic payments, ticketing, and loyalty programs

A scenario-Sometime in the near future.....

Brian and his family are preparing for a much-needed vacation. This year they are heading for Orlando, Florida to enjoy the theme parks, restaurants, events and other attractions for a week of fun in the sun. While researching their upcoming vacation at the Orlando Visitor's Bureau website, Brian spotted an interesting link for the "Orlando Electronic Pass (ePass)". This ePass offer included tickets, passes, discounts, audio/video tours, coupons, special offers and even a secure electronic wallet for their vacation money. For $50 per Orlando ePass, Brian and his family would receive approximately $700 worth of discounts and passes at some of their favorite places including all theme parks, all the major hotels, restaurants, cinemas, gift shops and local events. Also included in the Orlando ePass are videos of Orlando that can be viewed and listened to on the Orlando ePass since it is also an audio (mp3) and video (mp4) player. So Brian orders four Orlando ePasses and is informed that he can pick them up at the Orlando Welcome Desk at the Orlando International Airport upon arrival.

When Brian and his family arrive at the Orlando Welcome Desk at the airport, Brian and his wife present their photo IDs to the hostess at the desk. Since Brian already has an Apple iPhone she gives him a little Orlando key fob with a fingerprint sensor. She gives each of the others a very cool looking little mp3/mp4 player device on an Orlando lanyard, with a fingerprint sensor and a LCD screen. She explains to them that both forms of the Orlando ePass aretheir portable electronic concierge and will be their electronic pass (Orlando ePass) to everything they want to do in Orlando. It will communicate with standard contactless RFID at most turnstiles and cash registers. It will communicate with handheld computers in the theme parks as well. It can also be connected to any computer by standard USB port for downloading additional tickets, cash, audio files, videos, information and coupons and is completely secure. It also plays standard mp3 music and other audio files and plays standard avi (audio-video interleave) format video/movies. Brian's Orlando ePass key fob pairs easily to his iPhone by Bluetooth. He then downloads a meWallet® application from the iTunes?app store that allows his iPhone to do most of the same functions as the family's mp3 Player devices.

They can see what is in the Orlando ePass by reading the LCD screen on the front of the ePass or on the iPhone. Brian and each of the family members are quickly shown how to register their fingerprint into the ePasses. After they have registered their fingerprints, the Orlando ePass are theirs. From then on, only the person who is registered on the device can make it work. The Orlando hostess also explains to them that the Orlando ePass is equipped with Auto-Redemption?, which means that any coupons available to discount a purchase will automatically be used at the register when paying and any passes available will be utilized automatically as well. She tells them that they can see all their tickets, cash, coupons, passes and data at any time on the Orlando ePass's screen or the iPhone's screen and that they do not have to remember to use the coupons. This is all done for them.

The hostess asks Brian if he would like to have electronic cash loaded into the Orlando ePasses. She informs him that they will be able to pay for anything at the majority of businesses in the Orlando area with the Orlando ePass. If the Orlando ePass is lost or stolen there will still be a central record of all the data including eCash on the Orlando ePass and it can be easily replaced. Charging it to a credit card as a purchase from the Orlando Visitor's Bureau, Brian has $350 put in his and his wife's Orlando ePasses and $50 in each of the kid's ePasses. At the same time Brian purchases the three-day Disney World passes, one day at Universal Studios and one day at Wet 'n Wild. All of these eTickets are loaded into the ePasses at the Visitor Desk in seconds. Brian also sees that his reservations for the rental car and for the hotel are in the Orlando ePass as well as a complementary dinner at Boston Lobster Fest for that evening. Also included with their new Orlando ePasses is a small SD memory card with a video tour of Orlando's 'Best Bets' on it. Brian can download these same video tours to his iPhone. The whole family can watch this video on their Orlando ePasses to see all the great possibilities available in the Orlando area.

At the rental car desk, Brian merely taps his Orlando ePass at the contactless reader at the Tap and Drive kiosk and his rental car keys drop down into the tray. The location and make of the car is displayed on the LCD screen of his iPhone. Also displayed is a notice that he has been given an upgrade because of a coupon identified in his Orlando ePass during the transaction. He also sees that he has been given an additional coupon for an upgrade the next time he rents a car from this agency and a coupon for a half-price dinner at any Olive Garden restaurant.

When Brian and his family arrive at the hotel, he taps the Orlando ePass at the NFC-RFID Tap 'n' Check-in kiosk at the hotel. He is asked to have each member of his family tap their ePasses to the NFC-RFID reader on the kiosk as well. Now all the family's ePasses can be used to open the door to their room. No other room keys are necessary. Additionally, during the process of making the Orlando ePass a room key, Brian's Orlando ePass is sent 4 coupons for free Florida orange juices at the hotel restaurant and half price on a special selection of gifts at the hotel gift shop.

After putting their bags in their rooms and changing, the family goes down to the restaurant to have some lunch before heading to Ripley's Museum. Everyone orders orange juice to use their coupons, but they also have a full lunch. At the register, Brian holds his Orlando ePass on the Tap and Pay reader. Brian can see on the LCD screen of his meWallet? enabled iPhone that the orange juice coupons are automatically redeemed and the remainder of the bill is paid for using Brian's prepaid account in the ePass. An electronic receipt for the meal is sent back to the Orlando ePass as well as a coupon for a half-price hamburger next time they come to the restaurant. All data sent to Brian's Orlando ePass is displayed on his phone.

As they are walking through the hotel lobby, they notice an Orlando Concierge Kiosk. Brian's daughter taps her Orlando ePass on the NFC-RFID reader. The large screen on the kiosk displays a list of available coupons and promotions. She chooses Ripley's Museum and asks for 4 coupons for their 4 ePasses. The kiosk display instructs her to hold her Orlando ePass to the reader and for each of the other group members to do the same. In less than a second, she is given a 20% off coupon for Ripley's as well as a coupon for 10% off in the Ripley's gift shop. Each family member follows suit and is given the same.

At Ripley's Museum, Brian tells the man in the ticket booth that he would like 4 tickets and that each of his family members has a coupon. The attendant in the ticket booth asks Brian if he would like interactive audio/video tour cards for their Orlando ePasses. The man explains that with this little SD card in their ePasses they will be able to tap at readers throughout the museum and then see and hear interesting facts about the different exhibits, receive special offers and enhance their museum experience. Brian says, "Yes", and the attendant provides each of them with a Ripley's micro-SD memory card with a complete video tour. Each of the micro-SD cards are inserted into the SD card slot in the ePasses or downloaded as a video to Brian's iPhone. Brian pays with his Orlando ePass and an electronic receipt and additional coupons are sent back to him. Each family member taps the reader at the register and their discount coupon is redeemed and additional coupons are sent to them.

The next day, Brian and his family drive out to Disney World. At the turnstile, each person taps their Orlando ePass on the NFC-RFID reader. During that action, the tickets are authenticated and 5 discount coupons are sent to each ePass. By reading the electronic coupons on their LCD screens, Brian and his family can see that each person has received different coupons that relate to things that they like. Each person gets a discount coupon for a meal, each person gets a Fastpass? coupon for a favorite ride, and 3 different discount coupons for theme gift shops. As they go through their day at the park they use their ePasses to pay for their meals and gifts and are given additional coupons during every transaction.

Just inside the park Brian notices a video tour booth. At this booth, Brian purchases four Walt Disney World tour SD cards for their Orlando ePasses. The pre-recorded, interactive tours are activated by tapping any of the RFID readers located throughout the park. The tours can also be activated by tapping the play button on the ePass' menu. When they hold the ePass against a RFID tap n' tour post then can also receive, electronically, special custom Disney offers like restaurant coupons and Fastpass? coupons. At one of the gift shops, Brian's daughter Sophia sees a new Disney World Special Hannah Montana music SD card with the latest Hannah Montana songs and videos. Sophia purchases this using her Orlando ePass, plugs it into the micro SD card slot, plugs in her headset and off she goes happily listening to the recording.

One time while paying at a restaurant, Brian's wife is sent a notice to her Orlando ePass that there is a very short line at Its A Small World. So they hurry over to that ride.

During their second day at Disney, Brian's son wanders off and they cannot find him. Fortunately he remembers to tap his Orlando ePass at a Tap n' Tour Post or a point-of-sale (POS) terminal in the Park and the Park staff finds him immediately and re-unites him with his parents.

One evening, Brian and the family decide to go to the movies. Brian purchases the tickets at the Concierge Kiosk and receives discount coupons for popcorn for the whole family. At the cinema, Brian just taps his Orlando ePass at the turnstile as does each of the family members. The eTickets are validated and everyone gets in. Everyone is given additional coupons as well including discount coupons for the Outlet Mall. Everyone wants popcorn for the movie, so Brian purchases the popcorn and pays with his ePass. The discount coupons are automatically used and the remaining total for the popcorns is deducted from the ePass. Of course, a receipt is sent back to the ePass.

During their week in the Orlando area, Brian and his family use their Orlando ePass extensively. They use them for everything from paying at restaurants, buying gifts, watching videos, listening to music, accessing their hotel rooms and redeeming discount coupons. They save a cumulative total of $825 by utilizing these discounts, but they did have to purchase an additional suitcase at the Outlet Mall to carry back some of the items that they had not planned to purchase.

Once home, Brian receives an email letting him know that that their Orlando ePass is also known as ultra-secure? meWallet® System idPlayer? and idFob? smart devices (idGadget? devices) and that they can be used at numerous websites for authentication, payment and downloading of tickets. He is also sent a list of stadiums, cinemas, venues, shopping malls, stores and restaurants that accept the meWallet® System's idGadget? devices He is also informed that he can have this same technology physically integrated in a newly announced meWallet® System enabled smart cell phone.

Brian also learns that he can use the idFob? device, connected to his PC via its USB port, to authenticate himself at the Tickethub or eBay website and can securely pay with his idFob? device for the Rolling Stones tickets that he just purchased. He can also download the digital tickets electronically to his idFob? device and iPhone and use them to get into the concert. When he downloads the Stones tickets and enters the concert venue, he is also given customized digital coupons for fan merchandise and food at the venue. After the concert he uses one of his VIP coupons to purchase a micro SD card with a video of the entire concert at a special booth in the venue for his kids.

By using his idFob? device and iPhone?for online single sign on authentication and transactions he no longer has to type in usernames, passwords, contact information or credit card data. His data is always secure since everything traveling between his idFob? device and the rest of the world is encrypted at military levels. Vendors and venues are sure that their customer is who he says he is since Brian is the only person that can make his idFob? device with iPhone function.

Brian is also able to load his children's allowances into their idPlayer? devices. He is able to set special parameters in the idPlayer? device to control their spending and purchases online and at the shopping mall.

If one of his children's idPlayer? devices is lost, it is no problem. A record of everything in the idPlayer? device is on a secure server and the idPlayer? device can be quickly and easily replaced with exactly what was in it when it was lost. Since the registered finger print is required to activate the idPlayer? devices, no one can use the lost devices.

When Brian and his wife go grocery shopping, they now go first to the grocery store website. Brian's wife connects her idPlayer? smart device to the computer and authenticates herself at the site. She is immediately offered coupons that relate to her families preferences. She can download, to the idPlayer? device, all the coupons she wishes to use. At the grocery store all coupons are redeemed automatically at the checkout. She can also pay with her idPlayer? device. During check out, she is also given new personalized coupons and offers from the grocery store and associated merchants.

Next year, Brian's children will be able to use their idPlayer? devices at school to pay for lunches and to access special areas of the school campus.

Brian and his family use their idPlayer? and idFob? devices almost every day for just about all their online and off-line transactions. At work, Brian is able to securely move encrypted files from one computer to another and to access controlled areas of the company network using his idFob?. He and his wife also use their idGadget? devices to access their eBay accounts. They can even securely download some of the money earned from their eBay business directly from their PayPal account into their idPlayer? device. Brian's wife chooses the DVDs to rent at the Yahoo.com website and downloads the rental codes to her idPlayer? device. At the local Safeway, she picks up the DVDs at the Movie Kiosk by taping her Orlando ePass to the reader on the kiosk. The kiosk delivers her DVD rentals and sends her additional personalized coupons for use at the Safeway while she is there as well as offers for discounts at the Zazoo.com Shopping site. The whole family uses their idPlayer? devices as mp3 and mp4 players as well. They can now pay for and then download mp3 music files to their idPlayer? devices at their favorite online music vendors all with the same little device and all with complete security.

As the years go on, Brian and his family will find that they are able to use their ultra-secure? meWallet® System idPlayer? and meWallet® System enabled cell phones in more and more locations and for more purposes including a variety of loyalty programs. Their idGadget? devices become their driver's licenses and secure passes for the FastTrack line at airport security.

Shockwave, will be the new villain for transformers 3

As most of the transformers fans know, July 1, 2011 will be the official release of the third and final film entitled Transformers: The Dark of the moon. Director Michael Bay brings back the original cast (without Megan Fox, even if, since it is replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) for this one and he introduced also new robots along the way. The available plot, said us so far, that the Autobots and the Decepticans get caught in the middle of a race to the space between the United States and the Russia. Shia LeBeouf star once again as Sam Witwicky and, as with the previous films, it provides assistance for her Autobot friends in their quest defeat villains and save the world.

My 12 favorite Apps for the iPad - January, 2011 edition

Few days, I wonder what are the best applications for the iPad and what are my applications favorites iPad. In fact, last may, I wrote about My Favorite iPad Apps 12 where I have called for 12 of the best apps for iPad, so I thought that I could return the list to see if my favourites have changed. As expected, my best apps for iPad have evolved over time. For example, only three of the twelve iPad apps have remained on my list for best apps for iPad, including Kindle, Zinio and mail.

# 12 Beginning with # 12, iBooks makes the best iPad app list. One and only reason iBook is my favorite list iPad apps is because the iBooks provides an excellent interface to store and read PDF files.

After using several PDF readers, including the popular GoodReader for the iPad, I prefer how iBooks stores files PDF showing the PDFs cover in the view of the library and the ability to synchronize via iTunes or attached to an email that you have opened and send to the iBook app and these characteristics are of the best applications on iPad iBooks.

There are a few features in iBook that I do not use including that fact iBooks provides access to the iBookstore to Apple to download and read the latest books and classics. In addition you can take notes and highlight passages in your eBook and use AirPrint to print the PDF file with your notes included.

# 11 My next best app for iPad and last well obsession/hour is words for friends HD. If you have not heard Word for friends, you must be the only one! Words with friends HD is a crossword puzzle (think Scrabble) which is played socially against your friends with a NewToy Inc. account. While there is an iPhone for words with friends application, the larger screen of the iPad allows better vision through the Council all me to quit my enemies!

# 10 For that app iPad on my list of favorite apps iPad is one of the best child iPad applications available and favorite iPad APP of my four year old DressUpBaby daughter provides a simple and intuitive interface for my four year old daughter with cute and funky characters clothing and accessories. I get random outfits by e-mail of my daughter with the function of camera on one of its best apps for iPad.

# 9 Next on my list of iPad best apps is also one of my productivity iPad applications. More remote is a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) client for the iPad that provides the ability to control virtually your desktop on the network of your iPad. I used the client to control the Windows and Mac machines, but VNC will work also with different flavors of UNIX. This application has saved me too many times while I am out but need something of his work, making this one of my best iPad apps.

# 8 Whistle transforms a conference phone network making this app on my best apps for iPad my iPad. (I use Whistle as a client for an asterix PBX, a 3rd party SIP service) which allows me to make a call from the "Office" any where that I have an Internet connection. Whistle ensures integration with my Contacts (that is synchronized with the cloud of Google) and with the latest iOS loaded, I can continue Whistle calls in the background that continue to use the iPad. Speaker works in surprising ways, but Whistle also supports headphones Apple allowing you to answer calls with the Center button. This application allows companies and is one of my top productivity applications for iPad providing a business tool to work virtually.

# Kindle 7 has consistently done throughout the world best iPad apps list and is no exception for favourite geek for iPad applications. The Kindle app provides an easy to use interface and provides access to the service of Whispersync Amazon to automatically synchronize your last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights through your Kindle devices. The Amazon Kindle store provides over 800 K eBooks at the same price or better than other eBook retailers.

# 6 Then on my best apps for the list iPad, Toodledo provides access to my task manager service cloud-based and provides easy access to my to do. Apple Toodledo has ranked in the top 30 paid iPad apps - all times and in the top 200 for iPhone January 2011 and is one of my favorite iPad apps and one of my greater productivity for iPad applications.

# Evernote 5 is another service based on the note cloud is one of my greater productivity for iPad applications and the best applications for iPad. The iPad app Evernote offers my primary interface to take and view notes, including the notes of the voice, while I am not in my home office. EverNote automatically synchronized with the service on the cloud so you can see the notes on the iPad, one of the Evernote desktop applications, or on the web. The Evernote app was inducted into the Apple "App Hall of Fame", on the New York Times "Top 10 Must-Have Apps" list and was the recipient of the award for best Mobile App of TechCrunch, Mashable and the Webbys and, in my opinion, one of the best applications on iPad.

# 4 One of the included apps, the application calendar, is one of my most used and therefore one of my favorite iPad. The iPad calendar App is set out and maintains my calendar directly in sync with the calendar service focused on the Google cloud.

# 3 If you have the best available iPad apps to access the service with the Netflix app, Subscribe to Netflix. The application provides access to your Netflix account instantly watch broadcasts television and movies streaming from Netflix in your Netflix unlimited membership. I use this app almost every evening to watch the TV shows and is one of the best applications on iPad.

# Zinio 2 is one of my favourite apps for iPad and using Zinio receive all my magazine digitally in the email that the Zinio iPad app allows thousands of titles with special features charts and interactive magazines, synced directly to your iPad. I started using Zinio over 5 years ago, and these archived magazines are available through Zinio app!

# 1 Since the iPad, I used the device as my primary means to get most of my work and all my personal email using the included messaging and Mail application is my best iPad app. The interface is great for a Tablet and the portable nature of the device, the electronic mail application helps maintain my quest to maintain a zero Inbox.
